Badmovies posted his exiting remarks regarding to HostGator’s semi-dedicated servers. Apparently he’s been hosting with their Personal/Reseller plans for a quite some time and this was a recent upgrade. However, due to some site access issues, Badmovies decided to move on.
I used Hostgator for a few years (believe it was a little less than three) and just moved hosts recently. For the first part of my time with them I was on a dedicated server. It ran very well, I kept it updated, and the few times I needed support they were quick and often solved the problem within 15-30 minutes. Since December of 2005 I was on their semi-dedicated plan. Again, the server usually responded well and support was always good. Around October of 2006 I started noticing performance issues, with the CPU going up to 3 or 4.

Sounds like common problems that I’ve heard from a lot of people sharing a dedicated server. Your site may be crystal clear, but the other people being hosted might not be as pure

Siropel has been with HostGator twice. Once in the past, then left when he needed more resources and purchased a dedicated server elsewhere. However, starting a new site Siropel decided to try out HostGator again and has had pleasant results thus far.
Speed: excellent at all times, example: 19 queries. 0.123 seconds
Uptime: excellent, I don’t think I had more than 8 minutes of downtime totaled for this month and the other. The server wasn’t down, the only service that was offline then was Apache (down for upgrade as I understand).
Server load: mostly under 0.75 but it’s a dual xeon.
Support: Always online via livechat, your problems always get answered and resolved in a timely manner (less than 1 hour). In the past, the server where I was got in a spam blacklist and I emailed HG support, in less than 24 hours the server was removed from the blacklist. This can happen to anyone. I had no other issues.
Domain? Oradeanul.com (somehow popular Romanian blog)
Would I recommend them? Yes, they are in my toplist.

Dave-dave posted a quick review of Go Daddy, mostly talking about how great the cancellation process was (Maybe they should try to work on making some of the other parts of their business just as great…) However, Dave-dave went through the phone support, instead of trying to cancel over the internet, so if you want to cancel quickly with Go Daddy, consider calling their hotline and getting it over with quick.
Cancellation: Cancellation was handled very professionally. They refunded my Domain name (under 5 days old), my privacy on the domain name (6.99, I think that was a rip off for Godaddy to add their name to the whois database), and 3 months of hosting. The total was $25.97 and every penny was refunded in less than 15 minutes (6 minutes of hold time, 2 minutes navigating the automated system). I received a confirmation of my refund shortly after I hung up the phone. And they did not argue with me leaving or try to keep me.

Dave-dave has had multiple hosts over the years and is quiet the bargain shopper. When he signed up for Dreamhost, he used a $97 off coupon and got a full year hosting contract, paid in full, for only $22. He was overall impressed with the service provided and feels like he’s found a home for his website. Hopefully he’ll keep his account with Dreamhost and not cancel, then resignup to get the $97 coupon bonus again like some individuals I know…
Price: Excellent! I used a $97 coupon for a year and got a year of hosting for $22, what a steal!
Service: Speeds were excellent! I got 1.72 mbps download average on a 2GB file. Downtime was OKAY. I averaged 99.78% uptime with it being monitored every 1 minute by host-tracker.com. I used 30GB of the storage offered to me without a problem (photo storage and hard drive backup… hehehe) and 200GB of bandwidth without a problem.
Support: Support was very good. Signing up I got near instant replies for sales questions in the earlier evening. I literally received replies minutes after I sent them. Tech Support got back to me within 30 minutes if I marked the priority at the medium equivalent (they go by really weird priority levels such as “PEOPLE ARE DYING!”). Normal Low priority tickets were answered within 3 hours on average. I’d say that support was pretty good for a host with ONLY email support..

mikey1090 has been with Downtown Host for a little over 6 months and just posted his final review, as his site has grown beyond the shared-hosting level and now requires the greater resources that a dedicated server can provide.
Mikey didn’t provide any specific performance stats like uptime, but said before his site was extremely popular his site was fast and responsive (and when his site become a little too popular, eating up 25% of all the server’s resources, it was no so speedy anymore!)
he Servers
The servers are great. Fast, reliable, and the uptime was great. Any downtime was usually caused my my online game causing too much server load, so if it wansnt for me uptime would have been superb.
The hosting plan
I was on the bronze shared hosting plan. Price was great, no $3 for 1 trillion GB bandwidth or anything silly. I had 100GB transfer limit and rarely breached 20GB. I got everything i looked for in termsm of hosting plans - cpanel, mysql, php and even SSH access which many hosts dont give.

whtmem is fairly impressed with the service Dotable.com has been providing. Although the support times might be a little bit longer than some of the other popular hosts, the quality of support is higher. Specifically whtmem likes how the tech responses seem to be hand written, as opposed to the cookie-cutter responses that we’re all getting used to.
whtmem1 writes:
I’m not much of a writer so please excuse this brief review.
I’ve been with Dotable for 4 months now and I can honestly say that my sites (both database driven) have never performed better. They’re on different servers and both are super fast and reliable. I only remember one downtime that was taken care of very quickly.
