Web Host Glossary

UPTIME - The measurement of a web host being up and running. If a web host is accessible 24/7 then it has 100% uptime, however there are many factors that lead to a host's uptime being less than 100%, which is why 100% uptime is never guaranteed.
URL - The web address that you type in to reach a website, also known as the Uniform Resource Locator.
VPS HOSTING - Virtual Private Server splits up a web server into several chunks that can only be accesses by 1 customer. This allows you to have customized settings while still being in a techically 'shared' hosting environment.
WEB HOST - The name of a company that provides homes for websites on a web server.
WEBALIZER - A web analytics program that shows visitor information.
WINDOWS 2003 SERVER - Microsoft's web server operating system.
